We love Original BTC not only for its unique designs or its signature cotton braided cords. Owner Peter Bowles’ vision of preserving the craftsmanship of local manufacturing is the strength of his successful lighting company.

At the early stage, whilst other were looking at cheaper overseas production, Bowles against the flow by purchased the centuries tradition of porcelain manufacture  “Stoke-on-Trent”, who was under threat of closure, and saved the expertise and craftsmanship of the staffs – whose year of expertise would otherwise be lost.

“My goal from the start was to design and produce lights that you are instantly at home with, that will fit easily and comfortably for many years to come.” Peter Bowles.

Bowles inspiration is drawn from all quarters, whether it be an antique lamp used to keep chicks warm, or the searchlight on the back of a toy lorry – authenticity and attention to detail remain at the heart of the collection.
